More La Nina conditions predicted for this winter

Looks like the La Nina that's been hanging around is predicted to last through the winter.   Who's ready for more rain?!

Seems like we get more "pineapple express" with La Niña. Big rain and high winds, but less arctic air.

The coast gets a lot more erosion with these storms from the southerly direction. We'll see some houses fall off cliffs and onto the beach this year. Wish I was in the riprap business.

Should be another extended ski/snowboard year.

I think we get more warm storms with an El Nino and the overall severity of the storms higher during a La Nina.  La Ninas tend to have less rain to 10,000' events than El Nino winters, which would be understandable considering the difference in ocean temps.  On averge, colder water=colder storms. 

The most intense storm seasons are usually in the transition years between an El Nino and La Nina or the reverse.

Looking good!  Need to amp up the conditioning routine.  All I've been doing lately is paddling.  My legs aren't doing anything but carrying the yak to and from the water.  Maybe it's time to buy a Hobie .
