Has anyone ever tried this? I know that folks here and on other forums have mentioned most other fish (panfish, trout, squawfish, sculpin, etc) but I have not heard of carp being mentioned. They are certainly a very bloody fish (I would guess lots of scent). Not sure if their scent is good or bad.

I like fish for carp with my kids from time to time but I have never kept one. I was just thinking that if I do some carp fishing this winter that perhaps I should try keeping one. Any input one way or another would be appreciated.

It will be a while until I get out carp fishing but I will certainly let everyone know how it works when I get to try some. The carp fishing gets pretty tough this time of year. I wish I had thought of this earlier in the year when the carp were easy to come by.

Asian carp, "silverfin" are quite edible.  A lot are eaten in Japan, and I suspect infestations were started in WA by wistful, homesick folks.  Potholes Reservoir is FULL of them.

I've got a healthy supply of carp two blocks from where I live so if they work, I'll actually have a better reason to go catch 'em instead of just wanting to fight a big fish on my bass rod when nothing else is biting.  ;D  I imagine that it would suffice as crab bait at the very least.

I've not read all of the old threads (yet), since joining the NWKA Forum, and trying to stay current. Or, the official rules for AOTY, but reading all of the new talk on Carp for Sturgeon bait, was wondering....Is there an AOTY category for Carp? ???

Nope.  But they sure are scrappy!  Don't taste very good though...
