Interesting new Lowrance sonar/gps

Saw this in the new Cabela's "Spring Preview" catalog that just came in the mail.  This might be my new fishfinder. I'm considering the B&W model, since that is in my price range.

New, Lowrance Mark-4 DSI Sonar/GPS combo.  Black and white model is on sale now for $249 (regular price will be $299). Color is $349.
 Has waterproof micro SD-card slot. Sunlight readable 320 X 240-pixel  3.5" display.

Any thoughts from you gurus here?

It looks like that's the replacement for the Eagle 350 S, which is a really popular model with many around here. It was on my xmas wish list but Santa did not drop it off. I will have to check out the sale. Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like you can also get the Eagle 350 S for 199 (B&W) on amazon and the Lowrance M68C for 299 (color). Decisions, decisions.

The Mark-4 DSI is  a pretty decent upgrade from the Eagle 350.  It has downscan imaging and an SD slot, both things the Eagle 350 are lacking.  For $50 more it looks like a good deal.

OK. We can compare notes, if I get mine set up and get out to test it. It isn't here yet. I just ordered it earlier this evening.

I also ordered a new Penn Sargus SG-4000 spinning reel, which I plan to use for surf casting for Redtails, as well as for casting jigs/plastics for rockfish off the Jetty.  I'm going to spool this reel with fluorocarbon, since it sinks fast and has low stretch.  (I dunno. Maybe a copolymer-coated fluorocarbon, or vice-versa...still researching some new monos).  This replaces my Shimano Sedona 4000, which was a major letdown (bail broke, drag is not very strong...could not stop a 20 lb King from powering into a logjam) after using a Penn Spinfisher 450ss for nearly three decades (got in in '82), which was and still is a damn fine reel with a bullet-proof smooth and strong drag, except that the anti-reverse is now getting  a bit tempermental.

I tried, but don't like, braid on my spinning reels, except maybe for float-and-jig fishing rivers with a long rod, and then I apply wax to the braid so it floats and is easy to mend, and use fluorocarbon leader below my float since its fast sinking and nearly invisible under water.
I have braid on the level wind I use when jigging for bottom fish. I'm still getting used to using it.
