Looking for a sit on top kayak. Hopefully use it for fishing.  If paddles are included even better.  Let me know what you guys might have out there that you may want to sell.  I am located in the Portland area.

Thanks
Robert

PP thanks for the reply.  I am hoping to keep it under $250 if possible for a used kayak since I am new to the hobby.

Okay, a couple of things. Maybe three. Ah shit make it four. First, welcome to the forum. Second, and I'm not intentionally being a smartass (but I guess, so what if I was, huh?), but good luck with finding a decent quality SOT for that price range. I'm not saying you can't, but I have my doubts, at least about the decent quality part. Third, there are options in that price range or very close, but again not anything that will keep you satified in the long run. And fourth, in the event I didn't make myself clear about quality,

In this sport there is, for lack of better terminology, a "law of diminishing returns."

You pay for quality and versatility. You can fish a lake on a rubber raft, but you wouldn't be able to go out on the Columbia River or saltwater.

Safety and comfort are worth the money you spend. Also you will spend more on outfitting a kayak to try and get it to do what is was not built to do.

Think about where and how you would like to fish. Narrow your choices down, then set a realistic budget.

This may be a little stretch of your budget,  but Auburn Marina recently had a new Pelican Castaway on one heck of a sale for only $330 + tax.     That looks to be at least $100 cheaper than any other local or internet source.

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

I've got one for sale that is setup for fishing and ready to hit the water with a seat and paddle.  Here's the posting:

It's almost cheating to start with a boat that pimped out :) Good buy!

If I'd had the extra $200, and if rawkfish was closer to me, I probably would have bought his boat.

X-Factors are kick ass boats. My cousin picked up a used one and I did SUP fishing for a good 1/4 mile stretch just to try it out and it never felt unstable even with the PBs zipping by.

I love watching this sport grow!  :D  As it has been said before you can fish from a little rubber raft or an inner tube! However, find a boat that fits your style of fishing and your are comfortable in or you won't be apt to use it  :-\

For those looking for classes...keep looking at this forum.  As the weather gets better several of the shops and pro teams will be doing demos, classes and clinics to help you learn more about this sport.

Until then this forum has a wealth of information from experienced kayak fisherman.  Youtube has lots of great videos: some showing what not to do. And there are some great blogs out there as well!
