I saw that lowrance has a through the scupper transducer mount. It looks great, and I would prefer my ducer in the water. Also, I cant tell if its meant too for sure, but maybe you could remove the transducer easilly as well for winter storage. Most likely Ill be storing my boat in the shed or carport. I want to be able to remove the electronics easy.
Anyone know if you can remove the ducer easy with that setup?

Post a link to the Lowrance scupper mount, and on which kayak are you installing?

I haven't bought a FF/GPS yet, but was looking at that same setup.  My biggest concerns would be how far below the hull it protrudes and also how easy would be remove and replace to prevent damage to the ducer during surf launches/landings or passing through very shallow water.

Some kayaks have a form-fitting transducer depression built into the bottom outside of the hull. Unfortunately, my Hobie isn't one of them. Here's the url of the discussion and photos of the Transducer deployment arm (TDA) that I used to mount my transducer outside the hull.  So far this unit is working very well and you can flip it up when going through weeds or coming to shore. I can also easily remove the entire fish finder and TDA and pack it safe away before coming through the surf. The whole unit is working more conveniently than I expected and the down imaging clarity surprised me.
