Anyone with some first hand info on fishing these spots care to lend some insight via pm? My dad is park hosting at Lookout in May and June so a trip or two is inevitable depending on weather and tides. I know both can be tricky with sanctuary closures and sealions but I'm thinking the structure for fish can be found.

Thanks in advance,

I've been thinking about launching from the Cape Lookout campground area for some time.  I understand divers do well along the north side of the Cape.  Apparently there's really good structure there.  I'm game for checking it out.

I have fished both many times and both are decent locations.  Oceanside is better by a long shot but gets more pressure from PB's out of Tillamook (it can get dicey in the fog due to the traffic) They both are exposed surf launches and are not the best options for those new to the salt, no ankle slappers here ;D.  A big hint I can pass along is use the rips and sand bars to your advantage when moving through the breakers.  Cape Lookout has awesome caves and both locations have a bunch of sea lions. A Beach cart is needed for both

Thanks for the info Pelagic!  Another place I've been thinking about is Cape Falcon, which is basically the north end of Oswald West State Park.  Seems like you could launch from Falcon Cove to the north.  Apparently Cape Falcon will be listed as another marine preserve in a few years.

This sounds very fun! I have yet to try fishin in the ocean.... Would I be insane to try in my yak, which is a 10' paddler? Ive surfed with it several
Times at pacific city and fished lake with it but that's about it...
