Not kayak fishing but with spring break coming this week for our schools and maybe others in Oregon I thought folks might be interested. I took my kids and my daughter's friend out to Commonwealth pond on Saturday. We fished for an hour and a half and the kids caught a total of 8 trout. Fishing power eggs and gulp eggs (no real preference) in the yellowish-green color (doubt it really matters). Main thing was to make sure hook is small enough that the eggs float the bait off the bottom.  Also we moved the baits around until we got bit. We would only let the bait sit in a spot for 5-10 minutes or so. Overall it was fun fishing with a play structure right behind us - my son spent most of the time there :)

Attached are a picture of my son and my daughter clearly having a terrible time :)

Funny thing is that there is a blue heron at the lake who has it figured out. When we landed one of the trout he flew over and landed about 5' from us and kept looking at the trout as I unhooked it. We were going to give him the trout, but he flew away when my son came running over to pet it :) Still, my daughter enjoyed getting to see that huge bird from a couple of feet away.

Cute kids! Looks like a lot of fun. It's always a good time when the kids are catching!

That's awesome!  Your kids were obviously having a great time.

How was the milfoil on the lake?

Good times!  We're anxiously awaiting the ice leaving the lakes and the opener. Just a few weeks away.

Not much milfoil yet. We would get small bits on the sliding sinker on some casts, but with 1.5 - 2' of leader I am sure the bait was floating above it. However, I know it grows really fast. I would not be surprised to see it up to the surface in a month.
