Saw this on FB so it must be true. :dontknow:
I guess that goose might not have been trying to mate with Drew Gregory.
That's still a pretty awful way to go though.

Swans are huge!  But I gotta believe no pfd. Can't find a story that says he had one on.

I'd think that with a pfd, as big as those birds are, I'd kill it before it killed me. I guess I could see a well placed peck knocking someone out.

Sad to hear of any one on a kayak dying though.

ok, it gets worst!

It was a trained attack swan that worked along with dogs to deter geese.

Quote
Anthony Hensley, 37, of Villa Park, Ill., worked for a company called Knox Swan & Dog which used swans and dogs to keep geese off the condominum’s properties.

Hensley was in a kayak on the condo’s retention pond checking on the animals Saturday morning when one of the swans swam at him, causing him to fall out of his kayak into the water.

Frank Bilecki of the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, told ABCNews.com that Hensley struggled to stay above water.  Two witnesses saw Hensley resurface a few times in the pond and called police, but by the time crews arrived he had been fully submerged. He was not wearing a life vest, Bilecki said.

Jokes aside, that really must have been an awful way to go and he left a family.  But you really gotta wear your pfd.

Dang.  I never thought strict liability could apply to geese owners.   :icon_scratch:

Ohhhhh,  like the one clipped to my pfd that I can get to upside down, underwater, in the dark?

But that assumes you're  wearing the pfd.
