Nice job!

I've been having fun following your posts.  I sometimes take this whole thing for granted but your stoke is contageous.  Thank You!

Amen, Rev! Preach it brother. I'm impressed by your first effort but please don't go out alone and under equipped.

So, don't go alone... I prefer not to, but I can't always even find someone to fish with me from the bank.  And I only personally know one guy with a yak.  Does no one here go out alone?  The under equipped I get... I will continue to work on that one.  I sent a message to outdoor play about a price match on a $475 super nova angler... so we shall see.

I go out alone 98% of the time.  I have a revo13, bailing pump, pool noodles, inflated tire tube, dry suit, and PFD with knife, VHF/DSC, whistle, strobe, waterproof cell phone.  My PFD tends to rotate me face up in the water.

I practice re-entry yearly or more.  Keep myself relatively fit, and I've lost weight - got back to my high school swimming weight of 40+ years ago - but I'm shorter.

And, I don't push the weather and conditions.

You can only do what you can do, and being confident enough to fish Puget Sound, lakes, and calm rivers, solo means I can fish a lot more than if I restricted myself to fishing with a partner.

About the only thing I'm not prepared for is a shark attack  :)

I fish alone in the ocean all the time...unprepared never.

I do think its a really really good idea to fish with others when new to the sport. The learning curve can be steep and potentially dangerous, its nice having help close by.  You mentioned you have not practiced/mastered deep water re-entry.  That should be first on your list (after proper immersion protection) if you plan to fish alone.

My point on solo trips was based on being a newby (like me!). Demonic and Ron have the experience, equipment, fitness and skills I aspire to. Meanwhile I'll use the buddy system in all but lakes and tame rivers.

Actually, I'm lucky rather than very experienced.  I've only been at this a few years.  Puget Sound is not much different than a big lake.  About the only thing one needs to watch for are wind, wake (lots of big cargo and cruise ships), and PBs asleep at the wheel.  You're down in Camas and your close choices are lakes, rivers, and the ocean.  I've never fished the WA ocean and never surf launched.
