So I learned two lessons today. #1: ALWAYS make sure your catch is really secured to the boat if you're gonna drag it. #2: Take the time to snap pics. I started out this morning with a catch from the bank. Not sure what it is (see pic. halibut? flounder?) but I'm interested in hearing from you guys. So I went across the highway to Kress Lake and had a fairly productive float. I hooked 5 rainbow and landed 3 (that's a very good day for me!). I decided for the paddle in I'd put the fish in a mesh bag and drag them in to keep them fresh. Thing is, I used one of those crazy "figure 9" carabiner things and attached it to my anchor trolley.... and when I got to shore, I realized that the bag had somehow come undone and sank to the bottom! What a drag!! So now I have no fish, and no pictures. Next time I'll secure the bag using a standard carabiner and I'll keep my camera handy to take pictures.

+1. It's a starry flounder...at least it would be in Alaska. Not sure if there are look Alikes elsewhere...

Sorry to hear about the lost fish.

The dark stripes on the fins of Starry Flounders are very distinctive.

Yep, starry flounder.  Some people eat them and like them, others do not.
