I swapped a nice seat for a new C-Tug cart yesterday. And yes, I am going to figure out  how to mount Wheeleeze beach balloons on it, but not today. I'm going to try low pressure in the tires and see if it can handle some sand, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It does move things around very nicely on firm surfaces though.

Looks like a few of y'all have one. How's it holding up after a year or three?

Well, it' takes practice to get used to the origami method of assembly, but the biggest issue i had initially was keeping the boat on the pads and the tires locked on. Once i figured out that i wasn't throwing the latches completely and wasn't tightening the straps enough, it works fine.

been fortunate that every place i used it was firm surface and not mud or sand.

have dropped it, let it bounce around in the back of Old Paint, stuffed it into corners between heavier gear, bounced it two feet downward off curbing loaded with the yak and gear for the day, still no cracks or breakage.

Normally i'll leave the wheels on, and just unhinge it to store it in the front hatch with the narrower parts pointed towards the rear rear of the yak.

hope that helps.

The only issue with my 2 year old C-Tug was the "cheapo" plastic strap clasp.....I had the strap/slip come unclasped too many times while traversing rough terrain.
So, I bought a NRS-9, 1 1/2" wide tie down strap for $10 from the Kayak shed....reused the C-Tug molded strap devices that secures the strap to the frame.
This simple change makes securing my Outback "bullet proof" to the C-Tug!
I also run only 3 psi in the tires for sandy surfaces.

Wali,
just happened to have been at the East Coast Canoe and Kayak Festival on James Island last weekend and the C-Tug dealer was into'ing the newer larger wheels for the cart.

I don't know how to describe them except to say they are wider and minimalist. You'll get a better idea of them if you go to the C-Tug website.

Two booths earlier, I had a chance to talk to the local Suspendz vendor. They have brought out two new carts, one for scuppers and one that folds,  both made of decent guaged metal. So if you're still looking for another cart, might want to look there.

Nope!

Happy as a clam at high tide with the origami folding c-tug. I saw the wide plastic wheels, but if my memory serves me correctly, solid wheels offer no suspension (cushion) and that sucks.

Got the cart out in some sand after replacing the strap and lowering the pressure.  Results?

Ehhh, comme ci comme ça  :-\

Seems like it needs bushings or some kind of bearing. I thought it was dragging because of the soft sand, but it had just as much rolling resistance on hard sand and then on concrete!

Think I'm going to have to come up with some kinda of delrin or teflon sleeve or something.

Dr Steelhead--I've only used mine twice so far but have had the same experience with the strap loosening--I will have to try your solution!
