Thanks Sherm, now I have a list of must,

Helmet, Game clip, lip gripper and bat.

Just a note on tandem experience for you and H. When ever I've come in with my outfitter with miragedrive deployed I end up swimming, but once I remove the drive the boat seams to be unstoppable to get to the beach dry. I've had a lot of fun just surfing that boat. I really enjoy surfing the little waves inside Sunset at low tide with my girls.

Listening to you guys talk about PC makes me almost want to spend the 107 bux for an oregon license.

Oregon's free fishing weekend is June 9th and 10th...

Maybe we should make the ORC correspond with that weekend every year.

Wonder if I stripped off the amas from the TI if it would still be too much to single hand. It's probably time for a Revo.

Handling a tandem, while solo, in the surf makes for a challenge as the weight distribution is a not ideal.

IHop - Your TI would be difficult! I just bought a share in a Revo, which will be a great boat at PC.

Doughboy - Do you solo that Outfitter in the surf? And if so, from front or back? I think if I was using the Oasis with a second person, it would have been a lot different. Solo from the rear was impossible. Soloing from the front wasn't bad. The launch went well, and the landing wasn't going too bad. If I got out when I should have, I would have aced it.

You can probably see now why I like using a helmet in the surf.  ;)  If you haven't been in that sort of situation before it's hard to understand just how much force that big piece of plastic + gear can create when it is picked up by a wave.  You raise many more important points that people on this forum can learn from.

Rawk - I do have prior experience being rolled and pounded in the surf, and I have thought that putting on my bicycle helmet would be a good idea. I just plain forgot about it before the trip. And you're right - one reason I posted my experiences was to initiate some response on things all you veterans out there see that we did wrong - or maybe right. My feelings won't be hurt by constructive criticism.

Be willing to 1) take reasonable chances with reasonable precautions, 2) have a buddy with you and 3) be willing to have your butt handed to you once in a while in full view of the general public.  :D  They already think most of us are crazy so there's no reason to dispell any rumors.

Jay - those are my sentiments exactly - thanks!

bigdood - I don't know whether I should curse you or thank you! Curse you for standing next to a pub, watching a brother get his ass kicked, and not bringing him a beer to lessen his pain. But I guess I should thank you because if you had brought me that beer, I would have probably said "screw this, let's just go drink beer." Then I would have missed out on more fun. Way to show excellent judement!   ;D
