Anyone fish at Blue lake in a Kayak

Has anybody fished from a kayak. It says small boats aren't allowed after May 1. Just wondering. Is a kayak considered a small boat or is it ok to use kayaks there. I'd like to go trout fishing close to North Portland.

No boats other than their own rentals. Sorry, have to wait till October.
