Read a lot of different articles from all over the fishing community, but would love to hear from some of this group:

When it comes to BIG artificials like an 11" worm or really big swimbait, how do you rig yours?  I have seen articles about threading braid through the lure to the stinger hook, center hooking the lure,  using   a sliding mooching rig,  and all sorts of different oddities and am curious.

Also, are you more prone to dropshot your large bait or use it as the bottom lure or does it depend on where you are jigging?

I plan on testing out a bunch of different setups during my ORC week, mainly just to try and get the experience with different methods and switch it up a little bit.

I haven't tried plastics that big, mine are 6-7" but I use 30lb mono with one or two dropper loops about 12-18" apart. Above the top dropper loop is a Shrimp Fly, below that I put one or two swim baits.

Below the dropper is a simple overhand loop knot to attach to the sinker. I put my round or pyramid sinker on 8-12" of 20lb mono (also using Overhand Loop knots) so if I snag I just lose the weight, not the whole rig.

The Overhand Loop knots are quick and easy to tie and slip on to the sinker and can be changed quickly if you need more or less weight. I'm highly seasoned, having been on the salt exactly once.

My rigs are modified versions of what Ling Banger taught me and are untested to date.

Thanks Island!!!  I like those dropshot rigs a lot and are easy to tie up a bunch before heading out :)

I've not gone to 11", but I do like the 8" Berkley Grubs and the large Scampi.  I use 3-8oz lead heads depending on lure size and conditions on a 24" 20# mono leader.  Keep the hooks sharp.

I have been rigging big sluggo and Hogy lures with 2 hooks and either fishing them with a drop shot or using a sliding rig similar to an over sized Carolina rig.  For the most part these are all leftovers from the east coast.
