I've been stalking a while while I got my first yak rigged up, and now that I'm ready to go I figured it was time to start posting! and I'm heading out to San Juan Island this week and wondered if anyone had suggestions for fishing out there? I don't have any experience bottom fishing in the sound, so any info I can get will be helpful!
Thanks,

Gerald

Bottom fishing is closed in the San Juans except for Cabezon, Greenling, and Flounder.

I don't have any suggestions for spots, but if you pull out a chart, you'll see rocks and structure everywhere.

My only suggestion is to watch the currents.  They can quickly and easily hand your ass to you.

Thanks Lee,

I will double check the regs and fish slack tides to avoid trouble then!

Thanks again Lee!
Having the chart definitely made the difference! caught and released a ton of rock fish, 4 lings(1 keeper sized), and kept a few of the many nice sized Greenling I caught.
