I was wondering if anyone has experience in using the powdered jig head paints. I am thinking of painting my lead so as to make it more attractive to fish. Any advice on which paint is best, and where to buy it, would be appreciated!

I've used it for steelhead jigs, too much of a hassle IMO for saltwater stuff. 1/4oz or smaller steelhead jigs are easy and come out great and are cost effective, it gets tougher and more $ with a 6oz ling jig.  I just use plain old rattle can spray paint for all my jigs.  I like a base coat of gloss white with an accent color (chart or red) added to about half the jig.

I guess I am too cheap to buy that fancy powdered stuff. I have painted mine with whatever rattle can paint that I have lying around- Usually an acrylic or enamel based paint. I just string up a piece of rope or  cord, line them up and spray. I give them 5 or 6 good coats. I often loose my jig heads too quick for them to get too chipped up to worry about the quality of paint.

we use CS jig paint http://www.csipaint.com/

Just pour jigs, dip, hang, dry.

The dry time is longer than powder coating, but the finish is just as strong.

Ive used the powder stuff several times.  Personally I really like it because its easy to use and it works really well. Im not sure how the regular painted jigs hold up, but I used 2 jigs the whole ORC tournament (I lost one) and they held up the whole time.(8 fish worth and lots of rock bouncing!!)  No chipping or anything.  Again I am not familiar with regular paint, but I like the glow in the dark powder.  The stuff really lights up!!  My advice if you choose to use the powder:  a regular lighter is fine for any jig heads 1oz or less, anything bigger I use a butane torch to preheat before I dip.  Once its dipped and colored I put them in my grill to bake them, not the oven.  Also throw some foil below them because if they have extra powder on them they do drip.  Other then that its easy and not much to it.  Ive got 3 colors, just bought a 4th, and with those ive done about 40-1oz jig heads and probably 15-6oz jig heads and each container is still more then half full.  Good luck!
