My brother has been yak fishing for years out on the east coast, and he's finally convinced me I need to get in on the action. This had been my first season out on the water, and I must say, it's so nice to no longer be landlocked! So far I've mostly been out on Lake Samamish and Lake Washington getting used to paddling and fishing from the boat, but ultimately I want to target salmon in the sound.
I'm hoping to meet some of you guys and hope you don't mind if I tag along at some point--my wife is probably justifiably nervous about me heading out into the sound for the first time by myself...

Welcome to the cure Gerald. When you're ready to give the sound a shot let us know.

Welcome to the forum, and good on ya for getting out there.  I fish salt 95% of the time, and the only time I have fallen out of a yak was fishing on Lake WA.

Given you have the safety gear and you should if you're fishing Lake WA and Samm, pick the right weather and the Sound is just a big lake.  You really don't have to tell the wife until you get back ...

when are you free to get out? I'm usually out mon/we'd/fri early morning. if you can make it those days we can meet up. I try to avoid weekends as there are way too many crab pots and boats on the water, Wednesday is usually the most calm

Hey maverick,
I think I should be able to make that work on occasion. I'm self employed, so I'm busy but have some flexibility, and weekdays may even be better than weekends for me anyway. I will check my schedule and send a pm!
