I have a couple of these bike hoists I use for getting the mtn bikes up out of the way in the garage - thought I might be able to use one for the Hobie.

They have these hoists at Fred Meyer for like $20 - maybe cheaper on line.

Got one, screwed each of the two mounts to a 16" piece of 2x4 and lagged those to the ceiling joists - works pretty well.

At about 65lbs, the Hobie exceeds the rated max of the hoist, but I like to live a on the wild side..."danger is my MIDDLE name".....

Anyway, just looped a couple of cargo straps around the hull, slid a piece of pipe insulation under each for added support, and hoisted her up inverted - no problem.

Well...I did have to back track once, started with the two mounts 48" apart, found it difficult to balance the yak at that distance - spread them out to 60" seems to work fine.

I got one of these at Harbor Freight for under 10 bucks on sale.

Nice to know it works and it's what 30 pounds on each pulley, that ain't nothing, i think there plenty strong for that.
See ya on the water..
