Was curious what folks wear when fishing lakes. I've been out on baker lake a couple times. It's a deep lake so it's on the cool side, but immersion will not kill you. Anyway, the first time it was warm and sunny and i just wore shorts and a tshirt (and a pfd, of course). That was slightly uncomfortable because I got wet from splashes and stayed wet and was kinda cold. The second time it was early morning and rain was forecasted. I wore my drysuit for comfort, and even with the rain it seemed like overkill. I was sweating profusely. It would definitely be overkill for non-rainy days (if we ever get another one of those).

Its tricky because no matter where you are fishing, unless its the nicest/calmest of days, the seat ends up getting wet. Then you feel like you're sitting on a wet sponge. Not a problem with a drysuit, but otherwise you end up with a cold, wet butt. I tend to enjoy fishing in comfort, and wet butt just doesn't fit in with my program.

What do you wear on the lake?

I've been wearing waders with a belt and shorts underneath. I usually have my splashtop on and just take it off if its getting too hot. I usually pack a small rain jacket if it looks like rain. I also wear this if I'm fishing the sound for a few hours. I miss using my SINK for fishing lakes and the Sound. It kept me from getting the wet butt. I had some privacy if I was drinking beer and needed to do my business on the water.

I sit on a Stearns flotation cushion http://www.stearnsflotation.com/Flotation-Cushion-P1460.aspx, keeps me dryer and more comfy, plus it's a throwable rescue device. Yesterday I didn't wear waders but would have been happier to have them. Don't like the thought of them filling with water if I dump in the middle of the lake, guess I need to test the belt system for leakage and practice reentry.

it's been scupper plugs in and go, which worked fine for me. just board shorts and a sleeveless "dry fit" top.. like underarmour or Nike whatever.. but since I got a seat the "wet butt" has become an issue. I picked up a pair of 2mm wetsuit shorts online, and they worked fine on a lake. shorts are still wet, but my butt is dry.

All of the above.

I made a custom butt pad out of closed cell foam that keeps me high (2-3") and dry.

Sometimes I'll wear waders other times I'll wear my drysuit up to my waist (tucking the remaining material under the cinch  on my PFD (in case I fall in).  More often than not, the combo of the butt pad surf trunks work.

I was wetter than normal yesterday due to "paddle drip" which is a non issue when peddling. Of course on a fast sail in chop the splash factor is in play.

Would never critique anyones lake wardrobe but this is what has worked for me as a general rule but knowing we all have different preferences.

Temps above 70 outside (including any possible windchill) and I'm in some sort of swim short that is quick drying.
Temps below 70 and I'm wearing my gore tex waders with a wade belt.

For tops if it's 60-80 I'll usually just wear a button up long sleeve fishing shirt from someone like ex officio or Columbia. And have a rain jacket ready if it's going to rain.

If its 50-60 I'll usually wear my kokatat dry top with a merino wool short sleeve performance piece (doesn't get as ripe as synthetic pieces and feels better against the skin) from either smart wool or icebreaker underneath. Below 50 and it's the same just with long sleeve merino and a little heavier a weight.

Having said that I've wanted to get what zee suggested (dry pants)for some time now. Mainly for the convenience of restroom breaks.

I've been comfortably dry wearing Kokotat paddling pants over shorts, a pair of NRS Titanium Boundary socks (knee high) and Crocs. Top half usually is a long-sleeve microfiber T, fleece pullover and PFD.

I do a hybrid of Spot's and Txpaddler's choices.  I use a wardrobe similar to TXpaddler's and a butt pad like Spot...wait, that should be a butt pad like Spot's.  I don't want to confuse anyone into thinking I have a "Spot print" butt pad.  Or do I:

It came with my Northwest Sportsman Subscription. ;D

Another favorite is the pants with the zip-off legs.  My only experience has been with the White Sierra brand and they dry real fast.  And, in long pants mode, they are still quite cool.

I wear my dry suit and did so a few weeks back on Moses and Potholes lakes.  It's all about what you wear under it as the dry suit does not offer much insulation nor wind resistance.  On those lakes I had on a light synthetic hiking pant and a tee-shirt.
