Hit the Fort Casey area of Whidbey Island late this morning.  Outgoing tide way stronger than I expected. Everything worked out fine without incident but now even more respect for yak safety.  No coho but have all week to chase them.

Never considered a Dry-suit before today.  Any suggestions? I am a big guy 6'4" 280lbs.

Thanks in advance

Great info there. Check with Derek at the Kayak shed. He hooked me up with a sweet deal on mine. D-rock on here but it would be best to call.

After nearly flipping the yak with a wader and belt set up early in my kayaking experience, I could NOT even begin to imagine heading into the saltwater without one.  I hear wetsuits work too but here in Alaska and my experience with water in WA, I say go for it.  The semi drysuits with the neoprene gaskets are very comfortable.  What's not comfortable is dressing for immersion and its 70 deg and the sun is beating down on you.  But I feel MUCH safer.

Picked up Kokatat GMER at a local dealer (AquaSports Paddle Center in Redmond, WA).  It fits great even my size 14 feet!  How long does it take to get used to the gasket around your neck and dry-suit in general?

Yeah, at 280 lbs. you're probably going to need some pre-wear stretching to find comfort.

I use a neck ring made of tubing to give my neck a break.  There are some commercially made rings as well.

I trimmed mine, I only have a 16 1/2 nck, but the Kokatat neck gasket was so tight, I was turning as blue as the night my exwife strangled me in my sleep....so I trimmed it about 2 lines, perfect fit with a little pot stretching.  If it ain't comfortable, make it so!!!

I trimmed mine as well based on the advice of others here, it is still tight, but doesn't kill me, and works much better. Had to trim alot though, almost half an inch.

Next Adventure just got a shipment of close out dry suits and I'm pretty sure we've got an Xxl neoprene neck stohlquist bpod for 399.

17.5-18 is a really big neck. You will definitely have to trim a latex seal.

I will refrain from all the easy jokes that fungun posts setups.  I think I am well on the way to make the suit tolerable with the help of some of you guys.  Thanks again
