Okay, so this is free, if anybody wants it.  And, to be honest, free may be too expensive for this item.

I made a kayak cart for my Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game out of an old ladies type shopping cart.  I cut the frame and then made a "U" out of PVC pipe to make the adaptation to the rear scupper dimensions.  The PVC "U" riser is rubber cushioned on the frame.  And, of course, it collapses so you can stow it in the yak.  Cheap and simple.  It works for a parking lot and boat ramp, but would not work for a beach sand launch.  I have since built one out of an old golf bag cart, so I no longer need this.  I just think it's a shame to toss it into the recycling bin.  So........ if you can use it, you can have it.

The center to center measurement of the PVC risers is 11 & 1/2".  I hope these pictures upload!  There should be 3 of them.

If you want it, just let me know.  I am in Depoe Bay so I don't think any Portland or Vancouver area yakers are going to want this.

Thanks,
Robert

Man I love free but that is a little to far for me....I was thinking of trying this but you changed my mind, thanks!  After I do the math I usually find my makeshift homemade devices can be acquired cheaper, even after the cost of marketing, manufacturing and shipping from China, by just buying the thing...of course I'm just mediocre in my shop skills.

Hmmmm......... interesting.  I'd say it is far cheaper than buying one.  I got the grocery cart at a garage sale for $2.  I already had the PVC pipe.  If I didn't, it would have cost about $2.50.  The foam is a small piece off of a pool noodle that costs $1 at the dollar store.  I'd say that ads up to about $5.50.  Okay, maybe $6.00 total with the two wire ties.

The cheapest kayak cart I have seen, commercially produced, is about $69.00.  Oh well.   :)

But...... I agree.  It is NOT worth the trip from Washington!  Hahaha....... about $75.00 in gas to pick up a free item.  That's a no-brainer for sure!

Well, If you factor in my ineptness at these sort of projects, ie the amount of time I spend vrs my hrly wage, often, for me because I have so little time, I might as well just spend the 69$.  Still if I had lots of time I would dink around with projects like that all the time and would really enjoy it.

Yeah.  I hear you on that.  It's sorta like hunting, and to a lesser extent, fishing.  When you factor in fuel cost, food, tackle, motel charges, etc, the meat ends up costing way more than we could buy it for in a market.  But, of course....... that's not why we do it.   :)
