That's just wrong.

Probably followed a school of albacore, who were following baitfish this far north. Maybe sardines, which like warmer water. Warm/cold water currents come and go.
When we were fishing for albacore off northern Baja, which has fairly cold water, we would catch yellowtail and dorado off kelp paddies in warm water columns. Good commercial boat skippers use water temp instruments to follow temperature gradients as much as they use traditional sonar fish finders.

I found a barracuda on the beach near Florence last year. Didnt think we had them around here either.
