Was checked a couple wks back by the boys and got cookies, my little guy and I, they were good cookies.

Today, while fishing area 4 & 5 we got some new knowledge, no cookies :(  Good news, we could have got a ticket I guess.  As it turns out you can fish both areas but you cant keep a species from area 4 that is not legal in area 5, on board while fishing area 5,  we had a ling on board, nor can you have limits from area 4 that exceed your limit in area 5 while fishing in area 5 if you caught those limits in area 4.  To put it simply, if you catch your limit of 6 blacks in area 4 and paddle into area 5 to fish for Salmon you are not legal, if you take your catch to shore and proceed to area 5 you can fish.  Anyhow we got no fine and no hassle even though in violation.

Man I have a hard enough time Trying to figure out one area I'm fishing in. that sounds confusing. At the beginning of your post you said new knowledge, no ticket, but at the bottom you got a fine? Did you get a ticket or they let you off?

Much as I like to bash WDFW over their needlessly complex regulations that virtually require a freaking lawyer to keep straight, I do agree with what you have discovered.  It would be way too easy for someone to lie and say "I caught that over in that other marine area."
