Took some really good shots of both bsteves and coosbayyaker playing in the Sturgeon Sunday, but I think may have lost the pictures.   :angry8:
I didn't have my camera cable so I tried the card reader built into my laptop. It didn't quite read them (showed thumbnails, but only the top edge of a full sized pic) then asked me to format the card (I didn't). Then when I put the card back in the camera, it found an error and wanted to format it as well and showed no pics  (I didn't allow it to format that either). :offtheair:
Anybody got some hardware voodoo? Any hope? Any clues?  I really hate to lose them but unless y'all got any ideas, I think our 1st PDX dino hunt pics are gone.   :crybaby2:

Don't reformat that yet.  I've had similar problems before and had some software that tries to recover the images. I don't remember the details right now, but will try to dig them up and get back to you.

No hardware voodoo, but i am makin a voodo doll, if you some pains in your kidney youll know what it is... >:D  ;D

Oh well, glitches happen, if we recover em good if not, no worries. I got a little video segment(aimed badly) of one fish i caught. A good excuse to get my mac back online. I can edit video on there, unless someones has a easy to use program for  windows they can give me or where i can download one?

See ya on the water..

It's not great, but Windows Movie Maker will let you edit your movies well enough to put up on youtube.  Otherwise, Sony makes a product called Vegas that is comparable to iMovie but will set you back about $80.

Back to FFTW's original post....

There are a bunch of disk recovery tools out there for about $20+ dollars.  I haven't found any truely free ones. The nice thing is that most of them will allow you download a trial version for free.  The trial version will usually only retrieve previews of the photos, but at least you'll have an idea that the software will probably work or not.  If polepole has a specific program that he can recommend, I'd give it a try.  Otherwise, I found this one..
http://www.cardrecovery.com/ but I haven't tried it myself.

I can't remember or find which tool I used.  I do remember it was something I downloaded and that was free.  It worked pretty well, although there were still a couple pics that were corrupted beyond repair.

Do a google seach on "flash recovery" and a bunch of tools come up.
