I went down to Whisky Gulch last weekend and tried to get ahead of the storm that has been trying to wash us away. Spent several days down there and didn't get to fish as much as I hoped. But I did get one nice Halibut my first day there. I was heading to the shore and decided to let my bait soak while I loaded up my PA in the truck. I was about 150 yds off shore and dropped the bait over the side and headed in. About 50 yds out I reeled in some slack and felt like I was stuck on the bottom. After a good steady pull line started leaving my reel. Then the back and forth game started I take some line, it takes some back. This went on for about 10 minutes and I finally got him to the the PA. A quick pop between the eyes with the .45 LC and the fight was done. This was my second Halibut I've ever caught and so far my biggest so far from my PA. First was a 17" Silver from Seward.
I got out on the water a couple times more before I left with no luck. I went one morning and then the wind pick up pretty bad and swells then a couple times the horizon disappeared from view between the swells. Needless to say some higher power helped me that day cause I rode a big ass wave in and was fortunate and very thankful.

Way to slay, Dave.  Nice hood ornament.  And you earn some pretty high marks just for working a fishing trip in the midst of these storms that have been rocking us.  I've been too timid to drive along Turnagain Arm with my yak atop the Volvo like a sail.

Way to get out there BearToothClaw.

And I thought kardinal_84 was the hard core Alaskan when it comes to fishing. His priorities must be wavering.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Hey now Mark! Truth hurts!  Lol.  Glad to see others picking up the slack on posting their adventures here in Alaska.  Hopefully I'll be back in the groove sooner than later. I'm amazed how long certain processes can take!

Kicking myself a bit as the forecast For Homer got marginally better over the weekend but planned on spending time with the kids.

The big decision this winter is another outback or a TI so I can get everyone on the water!
