New guy here a bit out of my normal element hahaha

Subject sums it up. Hi guys my name is Tim. I just moved to Eugene with my girlfriend from Louisiana, and of course we had to bring the kayaks along. That being said I don't know where to start other than I want to fish, right after I find a job!! Lots of different species out here and I'm not quite sure where to start. There were several sites, forums and clubs back home and usually you could tie someone back to one. Anyway I'm glad to have found this site and hope I can get a leg up from some locals around here. Thanks in advance guys and gals.

There's a few guys on here living down in Duckville; I'm sure they will pipe up before too long. There is plenty of freshwater fishing close by, and the coast isn't too far away with all kinds of great fishing. There are also several transplants from down South - they can clue you in on the major differences that may not be obvious. The obvious differences being temperature, currents, and depth of water, which you will have fun learning about. Good luck with the job search and getting settled.

Good to meet you, Tim. You're going to have a blast learning these waters. By this time next year, you'll be right at home in fleece liners and a dry suit. Just remember that the colder the water, the more oxygen it holds... leading to my two favorite words. Trophy. Rainbows.
