A bit off topic but thought this group would enjoy the pictures.
Had to pass this one on especially to those that enjoy photography.

Awesome! Love those. I guess that would be an Osprey then huh? Were you the photog? I think I may have been one of those in a past life... except I was the one crashing into the water and coming up w/ fish only 3 of 10 times. :icon_blackeye:

No I wasn't the photographer.  The link was emailed to me and thought the group might enjoy the pictures as much as I did.

Years ago I organized a canoe trip in the 10,000 Islands in the Everglades.  We saw a young osprey catch a fish that was too large for him to lift out of the water.  He tried... just kind of hovered for a few seconds.  It looked like the fish was going to pull him under.

He then starting flying forward, with his talons in the fish's back, dragging it through the water and up onto a mud flat.  When he got it up on shore he started screeching at the top of his lungs.

We were all joking that he was saying, in osprey talk, "Oh yeah!  I'm bad!  Check it out!"

On two different occasions, I've had eagles swoop down and grab small planted trout that I've hooked on a fly. One time it was an Ospey at Deep Lake near Enumclaw, another time it was a big Bald Eagle at Rattlesnake Lake. It's awesome to see the size and power of thes birds up close. I did feel a bit guilty that fish I intended to release got caught by eagles, but that's the way nature works. In both cases I counted the fish against my limit......
