But there is a catch... kinda... here is my dealio.  I will probably go Friday to fish from the rocks.  I would be good to go with someone on Saturday - assuming my wife doesn't kill that idea.  If you have a vehicle I can throw my yak one I will yak fish with you.  If not then I would still meet you down there and watch jealously from the rocks. :)  PM me if you are interested in going.

So, Olyspec, in his kind way, says he sees 7' @20sec and wanted to know if I was seeing something different for Westport.  I am seeing the same thing.  I never log things so I can remember what was what... what are those conditions like when you are on the water?  I was just going with the interval being more then double the height.

7' is big.  If you're fishing the jetty on the outgoing tide with 7' west swells, you're likely to be a statistic IMO.

So - this is obviously an old topic. U took specific note of what 9/13 does... Egad!  When you guys talk about fishing then jetty though, are you taking about off the end or the whole thing. 9ft 13 sec would have made for an exciting day on the inside... No fun would have been had... But I wouldn't think it would be death worthy. But the end of the jetty... Sleeping with the fishes would be a given.

If it's a southwest swell and the tide is coming in, then it's probably fine.

If it's a 9' west swell, I wouldn't go.

Rev,
I have an app called Sailflow, which predicts wind and swells.
For Saturday, they are calling for 24 knot winds, with 30 knot gusts, 8' west swells at 15 seconds.  You need to figure that amount of wind will add 2-3' breakers on top of the swell.   You dont want to even try to launch.

Personally, i look for 4' or less swells, 2-3 times for period, 1.5 mph currents (low tide exchange), and less than 10 knot winds.  any wind over about 10 knots is going to add breakers to the swell.

Hey doubleR - Thanks for the info on that app.  I will check it out.  This was an old post and not for this saturday. :)
