Hi all,

I am Garth from Frisco Texas. Kayak Fish in North Texas area. www.ntkfc.com

I will be working in Ashland, OR for the next 3 - 6 months.

Looking for information on what and where can be fished over the weekend?
I shall most likely be staying in area every 2nd weekend.

Any day trips or close by thats worth staying the night for some good fishing ie coastal areas.

Thanks for the help

Garth

Welcome Garth, former San Antonian here.

Please be patient, most of those who can give you good answers are most likely out fishing right now.

You could get some intel from sportsman's warehouse in medford.  It really depends on what you are wanting to do... I grew up down there and intended to fish last summer when I was there... but I enjoy the salt more then anything... what you looking to fish for?  There is some world class lmb fishing down that way...

Well looking to try anything new and have fun fishing somewhere new.
Will use Hobie Mirage I-12 inflatable Kayak, have not done white water stuff, dont think I want to :)

I fish local lakes for Crappie / Bass / Cat fish.
Been in some salt but its a 5-6 hour drive for me
Red fish, Spotts etc

Have not done any salmon fishing ... could be fun.
Catching fish is bonus, having a great day on the water seeing nature is ok. I dont like lots of power boats and tend to avoid party coves.

Some one in the area suggested crater lake but from what I seen posted, no kayaking is allowed.

Any info on potential areas and whats there, would be helpful

Cheers

Garth

On Crater Lake - great place to see... forget the kayak... that would kill you.  I like applegate lake, I don't know that the fishing is any good.  Howard Prairie Lake - Lake of the Woods - Klamath Lake - fish lake - the ponds near the jackson co expo

Always great fishing on the Rogue river...I use to float from Galice Lodge to the bridge just before the wild but you will want someone with you that knows the river. Also check the Shady Cove area...river is swift there. Lost creek lake is another place for good trout fishing. Other lakes will be high up and very snowy this time of the year but you could check Howards prarie, Lake of the Woods, Fish Lake and Four Mile lake.

That's a man made lake. I never fished it and havent heard of anyone fishing it...not sure if it's a stocked lake.

Crescent City is a great place to catch crab in the winter and rock fish and lings in the summer from a yak. I've caught so many crab this winter my wife told me not to bring any more home.
The upper Klamath between Happy Camp and Copco I5 would be a trip you wouldn't regret. Steelhead and beautiful scenery is a good combination.

Emigrant lake is planted with trout and spent steelhead. Has bass and other panfish. Applegate and Lost creek Res. are good bets this time of year. Basically anything that isn't still frozen is a possibility.
