...this forum is awesome and the people that frequent it are too! Being new to the kayak scene I have found answers to every possible question so far. This site is like my 'Google' for all kayak fishing needs. I'm like an information sponge at this point. I've absorbed so much! Things I would have never thought about! The knowledge and experience that is being shared here is pure gold. It really makes it easy for the new guys to know how to get set up and not feel like a kook joining the scene. So thank you for that and thanks for making a noob feel welcomed!

I'd have to agree with you on all counts! NWKA has not only improved my catching and safety but its more enjoyable.

It's been that way from the beginning.  When we first started out, there were 5 of us.  We taught each other everything we knew ... which wasn't much back then.   >:D

It's also a lot of fun watching the students become the teachers.

I'm trying to get my girlfriend and all my buddies hooked on kayaks. "A fish in every pan and a kayak in every garage!" I think that's how the quote goes?

You're making me itch for a kayak Chris. If I ever find that rich uncle, I'm going to ask him for a loan.

Catch anything on the lake this weekend?

No fish...there was a guy with a drift boat, a smaller row boat with a trolling motor and a sit inside kayak. He had three daughters. He was yelling at them for the whole hour it took him to launch all three vessels. The yelling went on in the water too. It was annoying and I felt bad for his girls. I did see an old man with a pair of Outbacks show up! He had a slick trailer for hauling them. He was letting two guys demo his boats. Like I said, No fish but there was plenty of action. Just sell your truck and buy the Outback that for sale in the classifieds! You can always use the Pilot! We could go halfsies on a trailer and that would resolve your transport problems! You would think I premeditated this...

I agree fully, this is a great forum.  First I lurked, then I registered, and when I got 'approval' to get a Kayak, I jumped into the forum and have already received lots of great advice, info, and ideas, and even a great deal on a PA12!

Looking forward to posting my projects/modifications/experiments (there will be many starting in late-May) and then my fishing efforts/failures/success...cheers, roger

That was Huey "The Kingfish" Long, and the original quote was:

"Two Tchoupique in every pan and a pirogue on every bayou."

Tchoupique (pronounced shoe-pick) is a Coonass Muskie, Alligator Gar the Cajun sturgeon.

Pirogues are what I first paddled as a kid, great for fishing and duck hunting, not to mention trapping and frog gigging. Lewis & Clark used pirogues for their epic journey. Maybe we need to start NWPA!

Used to see Alligator Gar that size at the base of the Lake Marion dam.  You couldn't fish for them, and they would just sit there all day feeding on whatever came down the rapids into the slow water below.
