Anyone know what is chomping on this Cutty?

It is the end of mating season, but are they really that aggressive, nipping at the female? Seems like other fins would have similar damage if it was a parasite.

Just haven't seen one damaged like this before. Otherwise she looked great, fought like a champ, and swam away strong.

That makes more sense to me.  Thanks.  Other than dings on the tail and anal fin she was fine.

Working on a method to measure them in the net to reduce stress.

It was a cutty.  More than a dozen of these in the past week. The rostral teeth on the tongue are the give away, they are ambush predators, unlike RBT with a smoother tongue. Cuttys are just coming off their spawn now in Lake Washington. It makes sense this one beat herself up digging bad during spawning. CnR so she can grow even larger.

Maybe one of those two otters we saw near shore.

Hold still while I nibble away your fins.

 Nice cutty!

That first shot is a funny angle, made it look like a RBT.
