I just came back from the beaches and it does look like its backing off.. It would be nice. The ocean has been angry for a long time..

My back is feeling better and my sickness is ebbing, so im itchin to fish, real bad...

Thanks Allen. It's been a long winter.

And Coosbay... What would you have in mind? I'm not close, but I'd really like to get down that way.

Hey FTN, I had cod fishing out of Sunset Bay in mind. Not too many Kayak fishers in this area yet, At least not on NWKA. I printed one of my Willamette sturgeon pics and put it on the bulliten board at Englund Marine. I put my number on there and the website, but not one person has got in touch of me yet..

I can fish about any day, so anytime you get down here, lets fish.

I got plenty of parking and floor space for tons of people, so if anyone wants to hit the big blue some weekend hit me up...
See ya on the water..

Man, that's tempting. I've been wanting to see the reef off Sunset for some time. I've also been reading that the larger female lings come up to shallower water in the cold months to spawn... and I'd really like to see one of those.

I have one other spot I've been wanting to hit for some time too. Just off the beach at Oceanside is a marine sanctuary that's closed something like May through October. Boats can't go in there because its nesting ground. Of course, boats can't generally go in there in winter either b/c of the weather. I figure there are fish in there that haven't even heard rumors of hooks.

Having said all that, chances are that I won't be able to get out at all, but I will let you know.

Good luck Roy. I look forward to seeing photos of you with a nice 40 inch ling laying across your kayak.

I've got to know!  How was it?

Looks like tomorrow and Tuesday will be good too.

Thanks Guys, I made it out. Conditions were pretty good, Just a bit windy cause i didn't get on the water till 4 pm.

Hooked up on one fish but I lost it after a few seconds and had another bite, none landed. then i lost both my rootbeer colored jigs, one because of a backlash. None landed

They weren't liking my other jigs, but at that time i was starting to get a little seasick.Felt good for almost 2 hours, which is almost 2 hours longer then the first time out.. Thank you, Dramamine, works pretty good for me..

It was still just awesome to be on the Ocean, Sunset is a great place to launch and get on fish in minutes..Can't wait till tomorrow, learned a little today, like using one of Boxes clippy things to hook on the kelp will be a necessity, was drifting away from rocks darn fast... tomorrow i kill it!!  :headbang:

Took some video but didnt even take one still. To be honest i forgot the camera was even on after a few minutes until it beeped after 15 minutes.. ;D, real pro. Its god awfully long.

See ya on the water..
Roy

I'm going to fish Simpson's Reef Tuesday morning (04-01-08) if anyone wants to join me.  The Ocean has been very calm the past 3-4 days.  I will be launching through Sunset Beach no later than 8:00 AM.

Hopefully the bite is on.  I drive a lifted white Chevy.  If its their, I will be in the water.  I park near the bathrooms for easy access to changing and launching.  Send a private message or a reply if wanting to hookup.  I will check off and on throughout the day for replies.

I'm jealous!!  Every day I've been out this year has been marginally suicidal at best.  You know it's iffy when the coast guard helicopter hovers over you for 10min to see if you'll survive the next set.

Go get em guys!!!!
