Ill be there for sure. :headbang:

Caught an 18 inch ling today. Didn't even have the video cam on when i was catching it. turned it on after i caught it. Of course you can't see it very good. I have to learn to raise the stupid fish up so it get in the cam pov. I can't aim it down any more or it will be too low when i look up.. I'll get it right one of these days.... It's kinda like UFO footage, you think its a fish, but not quite sure.. ;D

Horrible audio on this action cam, im gonna try to glue a little piece of foam over the mic hole and see if that helps..

See ya on the water..

got a little rough at the end of the rocks.I broke my pole reefing too hard on a snag and didn't bring a back-up so i was done fishing way too early. So i peddled out a little Its was blowing pretty good when i went out and got to about 20-25 miles an hour. The wind waves were getting big!!. I was a little nervous, but not bad, it was actually pretty fun.

CBY--  We're all hostage to our jobs, but if possible try it in the morning, the earlier the better.  Just from my experience, it's usually calmer the earlier you can get out  ;) ;)

Ohh Yaa, Today was off the hook !!

Got to sunset at 8 am. "Coastal Pride"(Justin) wasn't there yet so i pedaled out at 8:15 to the closest rock to fish a little while waiting for him. First thing that happened was a seal spashed heavy about ten feet from me, scared the crap out of me!! Kinda unnerved me a little but ten minutes later i  hooked up on my first Ling and i forgot all about it. It was 21 inches, so i tossed it back. That got my juices going.. drifted off the rocks trying to get the coordination down it takes to measure the thing without getting bit in the groin , or something.

Pedaled back in and a couple casts later hooked and landed the small cod.

Justin showed up shortly after and we pedaled to his "sweet Spot" , but  it was nasty, the wind had picked up early and the swell on that side was pretty damn big. I nailed the bigger cod on the first cast and just pedaled the heck out of there with the fish still on the hook. I got some videos i'll  post later.

Pedaled back to the nicer side and caught the keeper Ling in the picture and then C&R'd another ling that was 21.5 inches.
3 Lings!! landed, too bad two of em weren't bigger

Justin broke his pole on a snag, same way i did yesterday. The wind was steadily getting stronger so i pedaled in with justin, he got another pole and went back out and i went to clean my tasty treats.

It was my best day fishing in a long time..I love my Kayak

Nice WTG Roy... more fish on the AOTY board and a new leader.

BTW, I think you can safely go ahead an give yourself another inch on that ling and another half inch on the black rockfish.  We're using total lengths not fork lengths.

Here's an illustration of total length from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commision.

It might be helpful to make a fish measuring board.  Basically it's a board (wood, plastic, etc..) about 30 inches long with a stopper of some sort on one end so you can push the nose of your fish against it. Then you glue down a tape measure along the board for measurements.  If I find the time I'm going to make one and post a "how too" article.

Alternatively you can just buy one from Cabelas.

You can put all your fish if you want to track what you catch.

Or you can just keep putting upgrades up.  The software will automatically use the largest fish you have posted for each category.

That's right Z, I hope you and the rest of the Washington boys enjoyed your month and a half at the top.
The rest of the year belongs to Oregon.

Even if you aren't signed up for AOTY (but you should be), you can use the AOTY website to track all your catches and use it as a fishing log.  There's even a notes section to record any relevant information.  The more fish porn the better in my opinion.

Nice job Roy! I bet you're ready to go back out already.

I think I have the wife and kids talked into hitting the campgreound at Beverly Beach (Just north of Newport) and another boat or six would be welcome. Anyone interested?
