Wobbler, Ling Banger and I went to Big Tree Pond today. I'd met Bruce Harpole, President of the Oregon Fishing Club, at the PNW Sportsman's Show and he was interested in hearing about HOW and seemed very supportive of our mission. OFC has about 38 private ponds and river access points. He offered to show us around and today we met him at Big Tree Pond.

Beautiful little pond teaming with big trout and should also be a great bass spot when the weather warms up.

Naturally Wobbler figured out what they'd bite and landed a nice 17" RBT shortly after he started. He caught several more, all about the same size. At one point Wobbler and I each had a fish on and Ling Banger was standing up in his T-13 fly fishing between us. As he craned his neck back and forth checking out our action  suddenly HE was the action! For is back swan dive I gave him an 8.5 considering the degree of difficulty.

All in all it was a great day and we found a nice place to take some wounded Vets out for a safe and productive day on the water.

If anyone is a member of the Oregon Fishing Club or is considering it, please let us know. If we had 2-3 members it would provide us lots of great opportunities for HOW outings. Bruce has offered to allow HOW 2-3 outings per year but if we had a few members we'd have virtually unlimited use. The cost is $100/quarter for dues plus a one time fee of $500 for a three year membership.
