I've done some tuning of the server and it is noticeably faster than when we first moved over on Friday.

I came across another interesting piece of information while looking at site performance on Google Analytics.  If you're not using Chrome, perhaps give it a try?   Of if you're using IE, punt it for something else.   ;)

Browser   Avg. Page Load Time (sec)
1.Chrome  3.32
2. Firefox  4.42
3. Mozilla Compatible Agent  4.89
4. Internet Explorer  7.10
5. Android Browser 13.74

The site is a little sluggish this morning.  We enabled backups on the new server last night and it is still making a baseline image.  So there is a bit of a load on the server right now.  Thank you for your patience.

Had to suspend the backup as something wasn't quite configured correctly.  I'l try again tonight, so if you notice some slowness, that's just the backup taking the first image again.

OK, so I'm about to start back up the backup process.  The site will become sluggish until the initial image is done.  Hopefully it will finish up before morning.

An update on the backup image ... at the rate it is going, it's going to be another ~18 hours before the image is complete.  That means the site will remain sluggish through tomorrow evening.  We'll be back to normal soon.  All further incremental backups will not cause this sluggishness moving forward.  Thank you for your patience on this.

The backup sped up a little last night.  Current ETA for completion is in 5 hours.

THIS BACKUP IS KILLING ME!  lol.  I didn't think it mattered much when I'm at work but when it slows down during brief breaks, the speed is more of an issue!

My way of complimenting this site and the importance to my daily life!

Well, the backup completed, but we're still experiencing a performance degradation.  Debugging now ...

I feel you on that one. I actually had to work this morning. Usually I can get away with doing nothing for the first hour at work but with this slow down I became more productive. I'm not really into that.

Had to bring it out of maintenance mode to keep debugging.  I know it's still slow.  Working on it.

Problem figured out.  Something unrelated to the other tweaks going on popped up, which means I was looking in the wrong place.  Frickin' red herrings.
