1. Make sure your relief zip is done up all the way.

2. Langston will be late.

3. Big Hammers rock!  - Thanks for the hookup Lingbanger

4. I suck at finding rockfish

5. I do get seasick.

6. Langston can fly.

7. Help your friends get unstuck immediately or they will break their car.

8. Rawkfish is insufferable when he is the only one who makes it in sans huli.

It was a good day!
I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

I don't think Rawk knows how to huli. The guy either has the best balance ever or he sold his soul to Poseidon.
Glad you had fun. :) pics?
And what's his about Langston can fly??

And what's his about Langston can fly??

Well, it probably has something to do with me being 6-7 feet out of the water and my outback being about twice that. I'm not sure on those measurements but Rawkfish, Sinker and Shermanator can probably confirm.

Things I did today:

Woke up 1 hour late
Immediately broke the screen of my phone
Forgot to put the back of my seat up, resulting in pedaling out holding my handles for support
Dropped a light weight rod and reel somewhere, not launching or landing
Lost ~3 lings on the way to the surface or working on getting them into the yak
Broke a cotter pin for one of my drive masts, had to use a hook to hold it together
And finally... learned how to fly

This was my first surf huli and I have to say I think it made up for all my previous smooth dry landings.

It was a beautiful thing.

I looked on from the beach as the kayak did a perfect pirouette.

Langston was about 10 feet east, and 3 feet above sea level when this happened.

Oh yeah, and the old dude at the campground started telling Jeff how to clean fish.  Priceless!

That was the most glorious huli I've seen in quite some time.

Yup, could have done without that.

OH MY!  That was my first reaction... then I realized that was an arrow pointing to your drysuit and not a subtle attempt to expose what created the huli in the first place...

This helped a lot thank you. Question. The little back squiggly coming out of your ass... You crapped yourself?

That is an arrow pointing out that I had my drysuit on. I had narrowly escaped a wave just in front of the one that got me, so I was ready to go in when it rolled me. Or as ready as you can be.

Well I'm glad you guys are ok. And thanks for the laugh. I guess since I'm part of the huli club I can poke a little fun. Were you able to corral any keeper lings on this trip out other than the ones you lost?

Sounds like I missed a fun day. Anytime someone describes a kayak event as flying...

Hmmm ... I seem to recall the rawkfish has tasted salt a time or two learning to surf launch ....
Anyone have the video handy?
