I am specifically wondering a out how heavy one should go. I've looked at cabelas heavyweight and polar weight MTD... At least I think that is what they call it. Anyone have that stuff and like it or not like it?  Looking for educated opinions.

I have a set of medium weight Polarmax shirt and pants and a set of the Polarmax fleece shirt and pants.  I bought them locally at Andy and Bax in PDX for about $17 per item.  I like the ability to layer.  Sometimes its one layer of the lightest.  Sometimes one layer of the heaviest.  Sometimes its both layers.  I usually wear them under poly sweat pants.  If it is raining, I will wear them under insulated sweats.  My legs get cold when the rain is beating down and the drysuit is wet all day.  On really cold days, I have worn everything mentioned and a thick fleece jacket under my dry suit.

If I was going to just buy one, I would go polar weight in the Cabela's stuff.   I like the stuff that has the fleece on both sides.

Depends on what type of fishing you plan on going and how hot or cold your body runs. You can always layer lighter layers but you can't make a heavy layer lighter. If you are going to be paddling all day I go much lighter than if I plan on sitting on an anchor all day.
You can never have too many base layers. Mix and match to find what you like.

I like my heavy fleece bunny suit.  Sometimes I put heavy military surplus polypropylene over my bunny suit and under the dry suit.  But, I tend to run cold.

All my layers have a proper relief port.

The newer REI PolarTec sucks.

Just got one of them bunny suits and I like it a lot but it will be too much for days in the 50 degrees + range.  Like they said layer on those cold days, you can always take some off or just be too hot, but too cold really sucks.
