Made a decent deal with the fellas at Mountain View on the coveted reel. The boys at B&J weren't in the mood to dicker. I was willing to pay $170 so long as they loaded it with PowerPro braid for free. Really, not asking too much. They threw in some other swag too, but the line made the deal.

LOL.  I'm really a tightwad when it comes to these things.  This year, I spent the first weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament rolling the year's worth of coins from the collection jar on our dresser while watching the games, promising myself that I'd not spend more on a reel than what I'd turned in from the coin rolls.  When I rolled up just over $300 in quarters and nickels and dimes, I knew I could feel good about the reel purchase.  Then, it was just a question of who among the local vendors was willing to deal.  I'm using the leftovers to buy the fishfinder. Not bad for an old gal trying to learn a new style of fishing.

Did you ever make it into the Sully, Akfishin? I left by 5:30, when it was starting to get crowded.

You will love that reel! Swap it between a few different rods and it will everything you need from a kayak .... Other than casting trout lures. ;D

Sounded like Rudy was bailing so I bailed and snagged the kids and rolled home.

I finally made it about 445 pm I think. I thought I hit send on my msg but I didn't.

Color me unimpressed. I did buy a few flashers and a rod but could have ordered both online.

I was in and out in less than 45 minutes and did go see the the other arena.

There used to be a time you could go and pick up most gear for the season at substantial discounts. The vendors look they are just going through the motion. I'd say it was less than 50% of the normal crowd.
