I brought this up in another thread. Mind you, I have never spent more that 70 bucks on a reel. But I have a friend with one of these and he goes on and on about it. He uses it for everything from big lings to steelhead to salmon to seabass.  It gets a guy to coveting his neighbors baitcaster. Any of you have any experience with this reel?

I don't own one yet and haven't fished with it, but I don't think you could go wrong with the 300 Lexa.  I was considering the Curado 300E that it's been frequently compared with, but after handling the Lexa at Hogg's in Hillsboro and reading the reviews, this would be my next choice in a large capacity low profile to handle salmon, steelhead, tiger muskie, big swim baits for bass etc.

It's a different model completely, but I've been really impressed with my Diawa Tierra baitcaster after fishing it hard for several years...only paid $100 for it, but I like the way it fishes every bit as well as my more expensive Curado 200e7 or Quantum PT Tour Edition.

That thing has 22lb of drag?! That's amazing given its size.

Me too!  That bad boy is definitely on my wishlist.  Daiwa actually has a really nice line of baitcasters for both fresh and saltwater.  The magnetic greese they use to keep the berrings clean and dry is pretty cool.

I know they are one of the site sponsors... but, has anyone here ever ordered anything from Haddrells Point?  They have this reel for 154 bucks.  That includes shipping.  I haven't seen it anywhere cheaper... but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

You wont be disappointed with it. Had one loaned to me last fall while fishing inlets in coastal carolina. Fantastic reel at a great price. Amazon right now is quoting me $168.00 for the left hand high speed version.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

Ok Rev, you got my curiousity spiked.  Haddrell's point is the tackle shop in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, where my dad used to go for all his offshore gear, and to pick up live bait.  Hell, they actually have a live bait dispensing machine (like a coke machine) in front of the store when I visited last summer.

How did you reckon them for a site sponsor?

Yes, they're gtg. Place your order, it ships 3 business days later, and you open a present 3 business days after shipping. Ymmv...
