Now that my garage is getting organized I decided to see what I can come up with to allow me to use my Humminbird Fishing Buddy Fish Finder on multiple yaks. The Fishin' Buddy is nice in that it's self contained, transducer built in:

I used some 1 1/4" PVC fittings dropped over the Scotty Rod Holder Extension with the Humminbird mount attached on the other end.

So far I've set it up on the OK Tetra and the Coosa. The nice thing is there are no holes to be drilled as long as you have a Scotty Base and an extension. It only takes a few minutes to build and can be moved from one yak to anther in no time.

Also stole another idea to put a rod holder onto a yak without drilling holes. Just removed the side handles and used some PVC to make a fixed mount to add Berkeley Base just using ZipTies. It's not the strongest but looks like it could be functional.

Hope I can try them out tomorrow.

Nice mount system you fabricated, I made the same using pvc also!  Instead of a mounting base on the yak, I use an existing scupper hole up by my right foot.  The pvc pipe fits snug into the scupper and I can swing the transducer up or down depending on what I need for paddling.

BTW, how do you like the fish finder?  I think it's a great unit and am surprised how long the AA battery system lasts.

Actually the 140C seems to eat Alkaline batteries. I bought some pricey high capacity rechargeables and now I'm very happy. Still need to practice and learn a lot more about using the FF to actually increase my productivity.

Nice fish finder mount but I do not know about that rod holder, a big fish could rip that off in a second.  If you can find u-bolts that fit the base you will probably be better off.

Scotty base will be mounted with four screws though the deck into a wooden backing plate to spread the load.

Oh, you mean the one on the handle mount. That's not for big fish, just trout or bass. It's more of a staging spot. Allows for "ball slippage" ala Ram. I was adjust playing around with an idea I saw on another YouTube video.

I'm now working on a reusable anchor release system. Works well on my little 1.5 lb lake anchor, now refining it for my 3 lb collapsable claw river anchor. Will post when it's finished.
