Better catch a few kings in April!!!!  Limiting it to two kings even in marine waters from Ninilchik to Bluff Pt May & June...bascially the time they are available, other second run Kenai kings.

I don't think being limited to 2 Kings starting May 1 out of Lower Cook Inlet is going to cramp my style too much. It's a 200% increase on my take over last year.

You caught half a king last year?

Killjoy?? Well yes it is a major bummer. In a perfect world it shouldn't be a big deal. 2 may/June. 2 sept/oct. maybe one in another's fishery like the Kenai or Kasilof.

I think a trip down the Kasilof with Hobies and bottom bouncing or back trolling might be fun.

I never did make that trip in A kayak.I do think it would be very "yak friendly".And a unique trip.I've taken my mini-drifter down the Kasilof many times--and have never seen a kayak on the water there.

Do it guys--and of course--report back so we all can share the adventure.

Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

I've got a friend who owns a place at crooked creek campground. Last I heard he didn't fish the kasilof much anymore because they stopped enhancing the run so it's been hard fishing, but it sure is a pretty river...

I can check if you like and find out when good kasilof dates would be.  He's got calendars tracking the runs going back something like 25-30 years for the kenai peninsula. He tracks temps, snow fall, and when the fish hit the rivers.  Kinda hard core about it.

Late May/first week of June we would hit fish. It is way down. But there are fish to be had. Might have to release them but so be it.

Late July is a good time too. Much more water but kings and silvers are as big or bigger on average.

A few shallow spots of concern for the mirage drives but you'd want them so you aren't just gravel bar hopping.

I went to school with the Trujillo's who used to have that take out. But consider this. Late May might be prime for halibut at the mouth of the river too. I'll have to google earth it.

He and his daughter caught four nice halibut shore casting at the mouth last year. End of June I think...

Oh. Facebook friend said she saw belugas in the Kenai river. Her parents house is by Cunningham park.

I wonder what the whales were chasing Into the river? Seems way early for hooligan.

That's pretty interesting to hear.  I would think it's early but who knows.
