Hey guys, looking for some recommendations to keep my camera lens a little less blurry.  These images should have been a lot better and getting home and finding this crap on the screen after an epic weekend is a tad annoying.

What kind of camera are you using? Cell phone?

Olympus stylus tough 6020.  It's a waterproof camera but I need some kind of coating to make the water come off the lens a bit better.  It's 3 years old now and whatever coating used to be on it has worn off.

Have you used rain x yet? I've tried it on my gopro waterproof housing. Works ok, not great. But it's better than nothing.

If someone doesn't come up with a better idea, I'll try that.

I have the same problem sometimes. I use Rain-x on the Gopros, but I have never tried it on a smaller camera lens like on the Olympus. I had a similar camera (Stylus Tough 6000) until I bonked it inadvertently while bonking a salmon.  I keep a cotton cloth in a drybag to wipe the lens off.  If it is crusted with dry salt, I will lick it first so the salt dissolves and doesn't scratch the lens.  Besides licking, fresh water will also work. ;)

P.s. Nice Ling!

Not all the shots came out crappy.  This one from the gopro was great, but it might put lingcod on Jennings' naughty list since it's killing an octopus.

I keep a couple of small lens cleaning cloths inside little plastic baggies in the pocket of my PFD.  I also keep a dry hand towel in my dry bag.

Couple seasons back I went into the local SprawlMart's eyeglass section & bought a box of 40 individually-wrapped, pre-moistened lens cleaning wipes. They look like the little wet-naps you get at a chicken wing joint.

Cost me under $5 here in Canada, so they should pretty much be free in US$. I always have 2-3 with me on the water; when I use one for my sunglasses, I automatically wipe the lens & displays on both my camera & my phone.

I have the Olympus TG-610, which I think is the next year's model of your camera.  It's my water-play and snow-play camera, though I've never been real happy with the images.  Lots of blurry shots mixed with some decent photos - mostly assumed it was due to operator error!  I just make sure to use quantity to supplement the quality of images the camera takes, and purge the junk once I can view on screen.

Spit, rinse, shoot.
Works on inside of goggles that fog up too.

Or a dab of light does of carnauba wax with a super soft cloth.  Buffed to perfection.

I hated my Olympus at first.  I had it in the "iAuto" function.  It took lots of blurry pictures because the camera is not using a fast enough shutter speed (I assume).  When I switched it to the "scene" mode (I usually chose the mountain icon) it was a night and day difference in quality.  It automatically adjusts the shutter speed and f-stop, etc... for outdoor shooting (again, I assume  ;)) which improves the quality.

I agree, the camera takes great photos when the lens is clean.
