It was a great event for sure.  I got my yearly sailing/coveting in on the tandem island.  I also tried out the SUP and I am sold.  I need one of those.

Co-pilot seat open on the iHop for a two day Kokanee hunt next week. Merwin & Yale, who's yo' granddaddy?

My wife, Lori, and I would like to offer a huge shout out of thanks to Next Adventure for putting on their Summer Splash Demo Day. If you are new to kayaking or just wanted to try out a few different models --this was the time.
Making the 150 mile drive down to Portland, early Saturday morning, was pleasant enough. Not a bunch of traffic at all. We stopped at Next Adventure 1st. Needed to get the wife an upgrade on immersion gear. The staff was very helpful steering her to the right stuff to fill her needs. We also got a couple of matching shirts--a girl thing I guess--that are real nice. And had a couple of hot dogs for energy. Very tasty dogs.
Finally we make it down to Sellwood Riverfront Park (I might have taken a few wrong turns on the way). We got all signed in, then went down to the water to check it out. All sorts of people -young and old --are out on various kayaks and SUP's. And having a great time. Only a few yahoo's fell in the water that we saw. After meeting and greeting several old salts we both gear up and Lori got to try out a Revo 11. She absolutely loved it. Guess who's going shopping soon ? (Can't quite afford it right now.) It's the same boat our son, "catch", bought last weekend.
One of the highlights of my wife's day was when we saw Jammer down on the dock. She wasn't really paying attention when suddenly she hears her name called out and Micheal greets her with a warm smile and a big-ol-hug. She thought it was pretty special that he acknowledged her before he paid me any attention at all. So for that --thanks Mike.
When we got off the water --we met up with our youngest son and had some lunch and adult libations. Got to meet his new girlfriend and then said good-by.
We had an Outback and Native Ultimate 12 with us so we wanted to try Merwin Lake for a while. We got there a little after 6:30 and geared up to try drowning some worms. It's a pretty  lake and even though we didn't connect it's always nice to fish new water. And we had a good time watching some eagles dancing and spending quality time together on the water. Finally got home about 11:30.
We had a great day together. Thanks again to Next Adventure for putting on the demo day and providing so many folks the opportunity to share our passion. You guys are awesome.

Gonna be a fun summer :)
