Hi, guys!

Can somebody tell me what would be the difference between Hobie Adventure Island of 2007 and 2013?

I found a new Hobie Adventure Island 2007 for $2437 at an apparently used to be
Hobie dealer. Price is so super attractive, that I can immediately jump in. But I'm not sure about the models.

Are there any issues with 2007 model of Hobie Adventure Island comparing to 2013? Or how dramatically Hobie has improved the design of the yak over these 5 years.

Thanks.

Alex.

Did you find the boat at Ballard Inflatables?  I picked up my 2006 Revo 13 from there in March all shiny and new.  The only differences I'm aware of are the V1 drive, cam-lock drive system (instead of the click in/out new version), and lack of carry handles on the sides.  Their are molded handles but I guess the new hobies come with strap handles making them easier to toss around.  You can buy these aftermarket and put them on as Lee (I think) did.  Other than that, I believe the boats are the same.

Smarter guys than me will chime in shortly.

The rudder is different, it has the twist and stow. Also it probably had the old style seat locks that too is an easy fix

As for the lack of handles that's probably a good thing. As the molded shape where the new ones are seem to scoop the water onto your lap.

Now here's another thing to consider, do your research, but on the hobie forum it seems like there was some issues with the hulls cracking of that era.

Thank you for the information. I found (like 15 minutes ago) information about hull cracking problem. This would be a major issue, especially keeping in mind the loads trimaran experiences under the sail.

I found a couple mentions of hull cracks and figured it was a pretty small fail rate and worth the purchase. . especially at such a discount.  Good luck with your decision!!

Thank you! :)

I've found the information "Adventure with serial numbers D0001 through D1875".

I start to like Hobie as company... Yaks have hull numbers. This is impressive... :o

I'm pretty sure that most of the leading manufacturers mark their hulls with serial numbers.
Definitely something you want to write down somewhere in case your yak gets stolen.

If you're buying new from a dealer, you should still get your 2 year warranty.  If you're hull were to crack in that time you'd just end up with a current model year, I imagine.

And now you know why they have boats they haven't sold since 2007

I picked up the other Hobie Adventure there. Yeah, don't expect the guy to be a gentleman or you'll be disappointed. But since he was offering boats below dealer cost, I don't really care how grumpy he is. The price was great, the deal is done, I enjoy the boat. I wasn't going in there to make a new friend, just to get the boat I wanted at a very low price.

Nah... I wish him good luck in challenging marine business.

I've bought an older (2007) Wilderness Systems Ride 135 from a Coastal Guard officer, who on contrast was very friendly and nice.

Thinking now how to install rails onto this yak, as the one I got isn't "Angler" version.
