I chartered a local dive boat to test it out for mothership trips to local So Cal islands. We left Friday night and fished Saturday and Sunday at Santa Barbara Island, about 50 miles off the coast. We ate like kings, Steak dinner, brisket, omelet bar for breakfast, waffle station, the best food I have experienced on a mothership. Fishing was quality bottom fish, rockfish, lings, sheephead, and whitefish. Some good calico bass fishing too. I was able to release a lot of rockfish as we caught them in as shallow as 60 feet. Over all a great trip, the lack of live bait capability is questionable, I am sure some big halibut would have been in the mix if we had sardines. Big swell, but winds were not too bad, sun never came out. I love fishing the islands, just for the amazing scenery.
