Some of my Team in Training buddies are running a Marathon in Seattle in a few weeks and are looking to get on a charter for a day trip while they are up there.

They are not experienced fisherfolk, but had a blast on a halibut charter that we did after a Marathon in Anchorage a few years ago so they are looking to get out fishing again.

Here is a vid of that trip:

Anybody have any recommendations/suggestions??

Thanks in advance!

  :hello:

Sincerely,

Jim

Jim,

My 2 cents is Gary at All Star Charters. He's been around for a very long time, nice boat and is usually always on the fish. He moves around a lot depending on what's running and where.

That's a good rec.  Also check out Keith Robbins, he's a real pro guide.  http://salmonguide.com/

My suggestion would be to day trip it to Westport.

Any info I have on specific Westport charters is dated.  Perhaps someone else here has more up to date info.

Thanks Rory!!

I've shared the link to this thread with the girls so it will be up to them to decide what they want to do.

Thanks again guys. Really appreciate it.

For Westport I've had good trips on the Slammer with Capt. Rhett and the Advantage with Capt. Geoff.

I did the Slammer with Captain Rhett this Sunday and the Lingcod fishing was INSANE.  Limits all around, my biggest was 18.8 and my second just a couple pounds shy of that.  I've never seen a skipper work so hard to target big lings and never seen so many big lings come up so fast.  On the same trip picked up 10 3-ish LB yellowtail rockfish.  It was a long day about 11 hours.  Rhett said this ling pattern would probably hold through the end of June.

Went with the Slammer bottomfishing because the keeper rate for kings during the 2-week window has been low, under 1/2 per angler which is disappointing when it's a 2 king limit until next Saturday.  After that it's 1 king + one other so everyone should take home limits because the silvers seem to be thick, they were following our rigs and thunking the weights right at the boat.

Rhett advised to watch his and other facebook pages, Salmon run hot and cold.  If the salmon are off hit the lings with the Slammer out of Westport, highly recommended.
