Haven't tried ginger yet. Saw it on mythbusters one time. Dramamime usually works good for me, as long as i take it right. Last time i took it too late.

I'm gonna try to drag my buddy Ralph out there too. Hopefully thursday is good, im gonna check it . If not thursday, friday should be the day..

I'm so jealous I could spit!  I was eyeing the forecast for Sunday thinking I'd get a window for some Ling and Rockfish jigging.  Latest update shows the swell building back in over the weekend.

Go get em Roy!  Make sure to take some pics.  :)

Woke up at 6:00 this morning, loaded up and met Royg at Sunset at 7:00. Was a beautiful morning, almost flat calm. we pedaled/paddled out and to the south side. It was very slow for the first hour or so. royg paddled to the inside and started nailing black snapper. I pedaled over to that area and started catching blacks hands over fist. Caught ten+ and kept five good size fish. Bumped my AOTY score up by a whole 7 pionts(1 Inch)... Lost a ton half way up to the boat too, one heavy fish got off, i think that one was a good size ling.

I don't think royg was keeping any blacks, he was holdin out for a Ling. The Ling's had other idea's though, He caught one under size ling and i caught a tiny ling.. they weren't biting what we were offering. a guy motored in on a little boat and was fishing jigs and some sguid, when i talked to him he said he had a BIG Ling on , but lost it at the boat. There out there!!

caught a small sculpin, and those are colorful fish. This one had bright red splotches on it, cool looking but has spikes and horns every where.
Also caught a small greenling and two starfish.

We fished for 5 1/2 hours and i never felt a tinge of seasickness. No Lings but still a blast. If i can still move, i might have to hit it again tomorrow.

As Wali would say. Here's my grinnin' idjit picture.

Well done Sir!   :o  It's good to see someone catching fishes.  I'm still skunked for the year.  5.5 hours on the yak!  I am an admitted novice at this sport but I'm only good for three before I need to get my butt up.  You are aging well!   >:D

Yeah man WTG. Tacos for sure!!

Underlings will mess w/ you like that. Not sure what your rig is but in order to get bigger lings to attack I attach a dropper loop about 1' above my jig/scampi and put a shrimp fly on it. Most times a small fish will hit the fly and get some action going. If there's a big ling in the area it'll attack the jig/scampi or the small fish on the fly because of the melee. If it hits the small fish don't worry it most likely won't let go until you pull it in. The hitch hiker ling is a very prized possesion! ;D

Ahhh Z, thats the trick!! I will do that next time. I've just been using one jig. If i did get a hitch hiker, i probably would have lost it the surface anyway because i forgot my gaff and my club too..doh, forgot to priint out a Kayak list !!  :-[

Pisco, The greenling was a little bit big to use for bait with the pole i had, and i didn't want to count it on my limit.

And if you find yourself catching too many pesty rockfish on the shrimp fly, just take the hook off, and put a big jig below it.  The rockfish will keep hitting the hookless fly and hopefully draw in big momma ling to the big jog without you have to keep reeling in the those pesty rockfish.

More great advice, that's a very good idea Allen, the rockfish can get annoying when you  want catch a  ling. Always lots to learn !!
