thnx for the info guys...

yessnoo,

i have a trident.. if we can ever get together at a weekend someplace, i'll loan ya the boat and you can go play for a while.. .. and, don't forget, we have a link to the local craigs lists here too. you can find it over in the  classifieds section..
Rich

that would be great...i should probably move to Washington first :)

Resident licenses are more expensive on the left coast, for some reason. NY didn't require a saltwater license, either. And WA state wonders why numbers are declining.

Sure the Trident is trick, but as you've noticed, they are heavy. My rowboat weighs only a few pounds more, and can hold 3 people!  :P

Here's some SIKs (Sit In Kayaks), that weigh a lot less.

The 30-40# models (and I have the Wherry rowboat) http://www.pygmyboats.com/

The 20# models- skin-on-frame! http://capefalconkayak.com/

Happy reading! >:D

i agree the trident is heavy in general but not really heavy for a sok when compared with other sok's of its size (plus it has lots of cool features hehe)  i haven't checked out the links you posted tonight to much i will have to do that tomorrow cause i am tired but from what i have read i don't know how compatible SIK is with beginners...ive read the recovery techniques are quite different but being inexperienced at both sok and sik i don't know if this is an issue or not in reality...i would imagine having to do a recovery in either is an issue especially with fishing gear aboard lol...but either way i will definitely check those links out tomorrow

Spot--  That is great stuff!!  May take a while to recover from but that is primo campfire material-- and believe me we all have at least one or two stories.  This is why we get hooked on yak fishing--improbable and wrenching days..

You'll be ready next time   ;D ;D

ok i am really going to bed after this post... but this story actually reminds me of going fishing with a buddy of mine back in florida...i lived there for 2 years in daytona beach and went to school with this fella...didn't know him 2 well until the 2nd year though. i tried to get him to go fishing every weekend but i only had one "ocean" sized pole so i was trying to get him to buy a cheap walmart one...finally one weekend i talk him into getting a rod and reel but he says he doesn't want a walmart reel he wants a nice one...so we go to the local sports store and look at stuff and he ends up buying a failry nice surf rod and okuma reel....anyways we go out to a spot i knew we could catch sail cats and mangrove snapper all day lol...where sitting there and of course this day they weren't biting much...we are getting kinda bored its getting dark running out of beer and his reel hasn't been hit all night lol i felt kinda bad...all of the sudden his reel starts screaming i thought it was gonna smoke it...he fought it for about a minute but wasn't much of anything accept letting him run and we were in backwater so the fish went out and around an island and popped his line....He called me everyday for the next 3 months to go fishing lol (and we pretty much did till i left...lots of all nighters in the inlet)

moral of the story is u only gotta hear the zing once and ur done...
