Paddle??

Do any of you Hobie PA owners or pro's have any recommendations' for the paddle length for a PA14?

The width of the Kayak (boat) is 38" (inches)

Any input would be useful.

Sometimes it seems like it would be the best, but storing them would be the problem.

My factory PA-14 paddle is 90" long.......I just use the t-handle in 1/2 the paddle....it's 48" long and works fine to get in or away from shore.
I store the unused half of paddle inside the hull through the front hatch just in case I ever need the "full paddle" length.

90" is a 230 cm paddle.

FWIW, in an Old Town Predator at 33.5" wide, and sitting with the chair in the upper position, I found a 240cm to be better for me.  That's not as wide, nor do I think I'm sitting as high, as a PA.

240 is about as long as you can normally get, although I have seen some up 275's, especially for the NuCanoe's (Frontier 12 is 41" wide).  Those are Cannon Wave's.  They have a 15% upcharge for anything over 240.

If your primary propulsion is pedaling and you just need a paddle for backup, I'd get a 240, as they should be readily available.

I just use my Werner Skagit paddle when in my PA12 and it works just fine.  I think it's a 240.  The Hobie paddle that comes with it is plenty adequate too IMO since I'm never really paddling a considerable distance.

I have yet to use the PA advantage chair in the full up position. I will probably try the 240. Thanks again
