Woke up too late to hit the tide change off Picnic Point, so I thought I'd give the lower Snohomish a try...even though I know I'm at least two weeks too early.  After a thorough August soaking, I decided to drop my anchor and wait for the incoming tide change.  Note too self....don't used cheap carabiners to secure your anchor float. Lost everything but the float >:(.  I was forced to drift and jig after that. I hadn't seen any rollers or jumpers the first 2 hours.  After about 5 minutes of floating, I hear a splash behind me.  Tossed my jig up river in the direction of the sound and wound up with a nice buck.  Nothing after that.  May hit Picnic Point or West beach tomorrow

Nice. I can't wait to make it north to score some pinks.

We all have to pay Poseidon once in a while. Would hate for him to unleash the Kraken. He's a just deity though, and will sometimes reward us with fish for our offerings. They're starting to thicken up! Nice catch!

Whoa, that's one nice fish.  I think I'll be at West Beach tomorrow.  Any info on gear, location, technique...for  that area would be appreciated

Nice sized pink. And bright too. Excellent work. I picked up a small pink off west beach this evening.  Oh and this beast. Bout 25# in my estimation :) wild :(

Not as many pinks around as i thought there'd be. Only saw a couple jumpers. I'd try the early morning bite and if not that, the incoming tide. Til they get thick i think its just being here at the right time. Trolling or tossing a buzz bomb oughtta do it.

Throwing Buzz Bombs, humpy jigs, or marabou jigs under a slip float are my top methods if I'm not casting flies. Stay shallow too. I've noticed a lot of people fish the top % of deep water, but I tend to do the best in 10' or less. Once they get good and thick it wont matter what you feed them though. They'll eat damn near anything!

I may only have one shot to fish for them this year. All the work I have is getting in the way of my fishing. Does anyone know roughly when the run is expected to improve to peak levels?

Shoot for mid to late mid Aug. They'll be in MA-13 late Aug/early Sep but far less predictable than MA-11 Brown's and Dash Point.

Thanks :) I'm probably going to be fishing brown or dash anyway. I'm pretty stoked to try that area.

I recommend Dash. Parking and facilities are far better. I fished Brown's the last two pink seasons, but just made the switch. The only downfall is the park technically doesn't open until 0800 (although the gates were open at 0730), so no crack of dawn launch. Post when your headed up, and I'm sure a crew of south sounders will meet you there.
